DOME LIGHTS

Dome lets you create a light set to simulate 'dome lighting' effect.
Lights are positioned using icosahedra vertices positions in order to keep light distribution as regular as possible.
Current version exports light-set as Maya MEL script.

DOME UI

Dome is a stand-alone application. The main application UI is shown below.
The 3D OpenGL interactive view lets you see light set position and scale. Parameters can be choosen using controls on the right side of the main window.
The current version has three classes of parameters: Common, MEL and Rib.

COMMON PARAMETERS

The 'common parameters' section UI is shown below. using controls in this section users can set light number, the dome sphere and the total light intensity (this value will be divided by the number of light). The 'hemi dome' check lets you to create only lights in the upper-side of the dome.

MEL PARAMETERS

MEL section lets you set light parameters for exporting to Maya using MEL. You can choose light type (distant or spot) and shadows paramaters. If shadows are enabled you can set map resolution and map filter using combos as shown below. Group option lets you create a single transform group for simpler light-set positioning. Once you've set desired parameters, push 'Export MEL' button, a file named 'dome.mel' will be created in the application path. Then open or drag MEL file into Maya to get your dome working. ( 'Instance' check is still disabled )

RIB PARAMETERS

Rib export has been disabled for the current version...
